Airport Assistance Services

Fast Track Assistance

Madrid Airport is very busy, especially with flights from Europe in the morning and flights to long-haul destinations in the afternoon. Airport Assist Fast Track (F.T.) service facilitates eligible travellers to pass through the immigration and security stages quicker and easier in order to catch up their tight connections at the airport, with less waiting time in lines.

Meet and Greet

A dedicated Airport Assist representative greets travellers at the terminal entrance, arrivals hall or aircraft gate, depending on the type of service booked. This is particularly useful when travelling at Madrid Airport, given the distances to be walked in Terminal 4 and T4S.

Lounge Access

Airport Assist provides lounge privileges for a number of terminals so that passengers can enjoy a break from the gate area. Lounge access is available with comforts like seating, food and drink, Wi-Fi and workstations before take-off, whether you're flying economy, premium economy or on board business class.

VIP Airport Assistance

If you are a CEO, celebrity, diplomat or traveller who requires maximum privacy, Airport Assist provides you with all the VIP services you need at the airport. This involves priority processing, personal escort services and coordination at major international departure and arrival areas.

Support for families and people with special needs.

Those travelling with children, the elderly and passengers with mobility needs can receive tailored support from check-in to boarding from families. If the airport is as large as Madrid airport, escort services can help alleviate stress levels and walking distance.

Baggage & Porter Help

It may be difficult to handle luggage at a big airport with various terminals. Airport Assist is responsible for assisting passengers with their bags, making their journey to the airport's check-in, baggage reclaim and transfer zones a more pleasant experience.

Transit Assistance

Madrid is a significant hub for airline passengers traveling to and from Europe to Latin America. Airport Assist offers gate-to-gate advice, helping people know what's happening at the airport when they are making short or complicated connections, including what to expect at the terminal, security procedures, and boarding.

Layover & Connection Tips

  1. Understand the Terminal Layout
Terminals T1, T2 and T3 are clustered together with Terminal 4 and T4 Satellite (T4S) making up another complex. There are free airport shuttle service buses that run between the terminals, but transfers take between 15-30 minutes depending on the traffic and waiting times.
  2. Allow Extra Time for T4S
The airport offers a large number of international long-haul flights. Access to the T4S is by an underground automated train, after security, so getting to the gate area may be longer than anticipated.
  3. Schengen vs Non-Schengen Connections
If a passenger has to connect through a Schengen and a non-Schengen destination, the passenger has to pass a passport control. Queues can get quite long during busy hours.
  4. Recommended Minimum Connection Times
The minimum connection times are recommended as follows:
If the flight is domestic to domestic, please allow 90 minutes or more. For international-to-Schengen or Schengen-to-international transfers, the recommended time is between 2.5 and 3 hours, especially for those who are experienced travellers.
  5. Use Airport Apps for Gate Changes
Several hundred daily flights are made at Madrid Airport. There are times when gates move, especially at Terminal 4, so it pays to check airline applications often.
  6. Lounge Access Can Be Worth It
There are several lounges that welcome Priority Pass, LoungeKey, DragonPass and walk-in guests. Lounges tend to be a much more relaxing alternative to public seating areas during summer months when these areas are crowded.
  7. Free Airport Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is provided all over the airport. The registration process is simple, but those that fly for a long period at the airport might be required to reconnect at certain intervals.
  8. Overnight Layovers
Madrid Airport is open 24-hours and is quite full during the night. For layovers of more than six hours, you will likely find it much better to stay at one of the nearby hotels at the airport.
  9. SIM Cards and Connectivity
SIM cards are available through airport convenience stores and telecom retailers. Many visitors now prefer purchasing an eSIM before arrival to avoid setup delays.
  10. Baggage Recheck Requirements
When booking on separate tickets, passengers may be required to pick up their bags and recheck. Check with your airline before flying for any baggage transfer deals.
  11. Airport Express Bus
The Airport Express (Route 203) is 24 hours long and connects Madrid city centre directly with the airport. One of the easiest things for visitors who are staying downtown.
  12. Metro Line 8
Line 8 of the metro runs from the airport to Nuevos Ministerios station in the center of Madrid. It's an economical and reliable option for many of those who enter the city.
  13. Children’s Facilities
Younger passengers can burn off energy before they board planes with family areas and facilities for children throughout the airport.
  14. Tourist Information Desk
In Terminal 4 of Madrid AIRPORT, there is an official tourist information center located close to the baggage reclaim. It can be especially helpful to first time visitors who are looking for rides or directions around.
  15. Official Entry Requirements
The rules of entry and transit for Spain may vary depending on nationality and travel purpose. Please check the current rules before travelling, from the official government of Spain
